HoD Message
I welcome all the new and already enrolled students to the Department of English and Foreign Languages, FATA University. The Department is committed to academic excellence and intellectual curiosity. I am optimistic that this journey of graduation will be an enriched and inspiring. The Department of English and Foreign Languages was established in 2017 and is one among the pioneer departments of FATA University. Currently, the Department offers admission in BS English. It provides an encouraging and all-inclusive environment for the academic and professional developments of the students. The Department is committed to educate students who have a passion to learn English language, English literature and linguistics for the development of critical thinking, communication skills and creative writing skills. We encourage students to get engaged in learning these soft skills of personal attributes, behaviours, and social attitudes that influence how individuals interact within a society. All such skill will equip students with the knowledge to become confident, well-rounded individuals, ready to contribute to society. These are also known as interpersonal skills or people skills, and they are crucial for effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and other interactions in the workplace and beyond. Michelle Obama has rightly said “arts and humanities define who we are as people. That is their power…to remind us of what we each have to offer, and what we all have in common. To help us understand our history and imagine our future. To give us hope in the moment of struggles, and bring us together when nothing else will”. The Department of English and Foreign Languages has always been committed to maintain a symbiotic relationship of teaching, research and the larger concerns of society. It offers a wide range of courses in the fields of literature and linguistics. The Department is committed to educate the students at the university in the field of literature in English and Linguistics, ultimately, leading to human excellence and moral goodness. We also focus on the overall development of the students so that they may become the best citizens of the society. To meet the modern global demands and trends of teaching and learning, we facilitate our students with qualified faculty as well as classrooms equipped with modern technology. As a team in the department, we make a vibrant academic community which is fully poised to expand its students’ linguistic and literary horizons. This is achieved through lectures, workshops, seminars and faculty-student interaction and other curricular and cocurricular activities. Our instructors motivate the students to tailor their individual understanding of language and literature and facilitate them in responding to their academic and pre-professional needs.
